Vajikarana Therapy in Ayurveda

In Ayurveda the treatment that is adopted to increase libido is called "VAJIKARANA". As this therapy increases the strength of a man to perform sexual act, like a horse, it is called 'Vajikarana'. ( 'Vaaji'=Horse.)

Vaajikaranamanvicchet purusho nityamatmawan|
Thadaayattou hi dharmarthou preetishcha yasha yevacha ||
Putrasyaayatanam hyetad gunashchaite sutashrayaha |

This means "The person who takes virility therapy or Vajikarana therapy after rejuvenation therapy gets offspring. Through these offspring he gains the happiness."

The main aim of Vajikarana therapy is to increase the sexual energy of men and help to solve male infertility. Through this therapy men can gain good erection, sperm count and sperm motility. Vajikarana therapy also helps to boost libido.

Who should not consume Vajikarana Preparations?

Ayurveda acharyas have framed few rules for consumption of Vajikarana preparations. These preparations have to be consumed by “jitendriya purusha” or man who has complete control on his senses and desires. If Vajikarana preparations are consumed by “ajitendriya purusha” or man who has lost control over his senses and desire, he may prove harmful to society.

Sexual acts should not be performed by young boys (below 20 years) or aged men (above 70 years). In younger boys formation of dhatus (tissues) will not be complete. If sexual act is performed at this stage they will land into a condition called dhatukshaya in which the nourishment of tissues reduces and they feel weak and fragile. During formative years whole body energy should be channelized for development of body tissues. Especially in boys, the male reproductive system has to develop completely to produce good quality and quantity of semen. If body energy and nourishment is used up in sexual act during initial stages of development, then the development of male reproductive system may become sluggish. This might lead to low sperm count, low motility and infertility (the inability to produce offspring).

In aged persons there will be dahtu kshaya (deterioration of tissues) due to old age. If men above 70 years indulge in sexual act it may further deteriorate dhatus and can hasten ageing. According to ayurveda acharyas “if an aged man performs sexual act his body will be deprived of energy and vitality. He will be lifeless like a dry stick which is infested by insects.” Hence Vajikarana preparations should not be consumed by aged men as these preparations may kindle their sexual desire or libido.

Who has to consume Vajikarana Preparations?

Men above 20 years of age and below 70 years have to consume Vajikarana preparations. Their intensions should be good and their aim must be to produce healthy offspring.

Benefits of Vajikarana Therapy:

•Vajikarana therapy increases hard erections and helps in erectile dysfunction.
•It increases duration of hard erection and prevent premature ejaculation.
•The therapy rejuvenates male reproductive system and helps to increase sperm count and sperm motility.
•It increases body energy level and retards ageing process.
•Men who undergo this therapy look attractive and never get tiered.
•The herbs in Vajikarana therapy nourish male reproductive system.

Obesity and Erectile Dysfunction

Researchers have found that men with increased BMI (Body Mass Index) have a higher risk of erectile dysfunction. The quality of life of men is affected by erectile dysfunction. Sexual performance of obese men is almost equal to the performance of man with normal weight who is 20 years older.

Erection requires a sequence of events. Erectile dysfunction can occur when any of the events is disturbed. Nerve impulses in the brain, spinal column, around the penis and response in muscles, fibrous tissues, veins, and arteries in and around the corpora cavernosa constitute this sequence of events. Injury to any of these parts which are part of this sequence ( nerves, arteries, smooth muscles, fibrous tissue ) can cause Erectile Dysfunction.

According to principles of ayurveda kapha dosha and medho dhatu are vitiated in obese persons. These doshas block srotas (different vital channels which carry signals , nutrients , blood etc ). When srotas are blocked the blood flow and supply of nutrients to male reproductive system gets affected. Even the flow of signals is interrupted. This leads to erectile dysfunction.

Obesity affects the blood vessels of penis. Obesity leads to accumulation of cholesterol on the inner walls of penile artery (Atherosclerosis). The diameter of penile artery is very small. Atherosclerosis further reduces the penile artery’s diameter leading to reduced blood flow. Reduced blood flow to penis tissues causes erectile dysfunction.

The production of testosterone a male hormone is affected in men who are obese. The testosterone level is usually below normal in over weighted men. Low testosterone level causes erectile dysfunction and low libido. This condition is known as hypogonadism.

Psychological factors also play a role in obese men. Obese persons usually have low a self esteem. Anxiety, stress, depression also affect the sexual performance of obese persons. Thus psychological factors can cause erectile dysfunction in obese men.

Natural tips to improve erectile dysfunction in obese men:

Concentrate on weight loss
Increase physical activity.
A brisk walk daily for 45 minutes helps in a long way.
Include whole grains, dry fruits, and vegetables in your diet.
Avoid deep fried, junk foods and soft drinks.
Drink coffee and tea with less sugar or no sugar.
Do not consume sweets, cakes and pastries etc which contain margarine.
Say no to chocolates and ice creams.
Avoid red meat and consume fish.
Vigorous exercise and increased physical activity lower the risk of erection problems by 30%.

These methods help obese men to improve erectile dysfunction.

How Deficient Levels of Testosterone Effect Bodybuilders

The symptoms of testosterone deficiency should be looked for by a man that is at an age where the levels of this hormone tends to diminish. It has been shown for most men that testosterone levels peak at age forty, but by fifty these levels will decline very rapidly. At what level should supplementation be considered? Or, does a doctor determine it by associated symptoms?

First, let's talk symptoms. When discussing these symptoms, we are only considering adult men, who had normal levels that led to normal development overall from the time of puberty. Adult men can experience depression among other mood disorders. It may be a good idea to have testosterone levels tested if experiencing depression, especially before deciding to go on the commonly prescribed medications such as Wellbutrin etc.

Muscle weakness is another symptom that may go unnoticed especially if a man doesn't work out on a regular basis. If a man never works out, then this could also lead to the muscle weakness just being blamed on a lack of training and exercise. There is evidence that a lack of exercise can bring about the deficiency. So, for the couch potato, the gym fly and everyone in between, muscle weakness is very relative and can easily escape the attention of a guy who might be testosterone deficient.

Diminished libido and erectile dysfunction can also be signs that a man has a deficiency of testosterone. So, maybe before running out to get a prescription for the this specific symptom, a testosterone level test may be a better first option. A loss of body hair is the last symptom that should be mentioned in this article.

Now let's talk about how doctor test for proper levels of testosterone and what those levels should be. A blood test is the standard method used to check levels, although urine and saliva will also work. It is usually preferred that this blood be drawn in the morning. In a couple days, depending on the lab, the results will be returned. Here is the part that is difficult to grasp. Normal levels have such a wide range, that even though a 14 year old is supposed to have a very high level, a 40 year old at peak, and a 50 year old a diminished level...it could be considered normal in all three males at 500 ng/dL. This result would actually be normal for a 60 year old.

Alcoholism Disease and Alcoholism Physical Symptoms

Alcoholism disease and alcoholism physical symptoms should be understood if there's a concern about alcohol abuse. Alcoholism disease can be defined as a drug addiction where alcohol consumption is at a level that interferes with the person's physical and mental health and negatively impacts family, social or work responsibilities.

Because alcohol consumption can involve many organs in the body, long-term heavy drinking puts a person at risk for developing serious health conditions and illnesses. While each of the health conditions listed below can exist for reasons unrelated to alcoholism disease, certain conditions and alcoholism physical symptoms may be indications that alcohol abuse exists and is affecting the health of the person.
Here are examples of health conditions and related alcoholism physical symptoms that may indicate alcoholism disease:
Liver Inflammation - alcoholism physical symptoms for liver inflammation include abnormal yellowing of the skin, eyeballs and urine, fever and abdominal pain. Since alcohol destroys liver cells and the ability of the liver to regenerate new cells, long term abuse of alcohol can lead to cirrhosis of the liver.
Cirrhosis of the Liver - symptoms of cirrhosis or scarring of the liver tissue can be tiredness or even exhaustion, nausea, loss of sex drive and appetite loss leading to weight loss.
Malnutrition - a common alcoholism physical symptom is malnutrition. While the symptoms will vary with the specific malnutrition-related disorder, general symptoms include dizziness, tireness, unexplained weight loss and reduced immune system function.
High Blood Pressure - high blood pressure symptoms include dizziness, headache, blurred vision and nausea. And the American Heart Association advises that excessive alcohol consumption can raise levels of triglycerides in the blood and related increased risk of heart attacks and strokes.
Pancreaitis - long term heavy drinking can result in the development of inflammation of the pancreas which is called 'pancreatitis'. The pancreas are needed for food digestion, and pancreaitis symptoms include severe abdominal pain and weight loss.
Erectile Dysfunction - alcoholism disease will likely affect a man in the bedroom. Heavy drinking can cause sexual dysfunction, meaning the man may have difficulty getting an erection. And the likelihood of alcohol-related erectile dysfunction occurring increases as a man gets older.
Insomnia - the connection between sleep problems and disturbances and alcohol abuse has been proven by numerous studies. Alcohol in the body can interfere with getting to sleep and with enjoying deep, restful sleep. In fact, insomnia may continue for weeks or months after alcohol abstinance.
Additional long term alcoholism disease health effects include damage to the brain, nerve damage, bleeding in the esophagus and depression. Alcohol consumption can increase the breast cancer risk in women undergoing hormone replacement therapy, according to the National Cancer Institute. Alcoholic beverages are considered cancer-causing by the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Important note -- all of the conditions listed above may be due to reasons other than alcoholism disease and must not be considered conditions that should be self-diagnosed. Most of these conditions can become life-threatening and should only be diagnosed by qualified health care professionals.
Besides alcoholism physical symptoms, learn more about the alcoholism warning signs, alcoholism stages and proven resources available online that can help. It is never too late to begin recovery from alcoholism disease and alcohol addiction.

Guy Sex-Anatomy Facts

Always good to clear the air of any misconceptions with some solid facts about the penis:
• Big guys don’t necessarily have big penises. A 6’5” basketball player could have a tiny gherkin-sized penis while a 5’3” shrimpy guy could be extremely well-endowed.
• Likewise, you know what they say about a guy with big feet? Well it doesn’t mean squat. Big hands and feet have nothing to do with penis-size.
• Hairiness (or lack thereof) has nothing to do with virility. Guys who are hairy or who are bald have a predisposition to be that way – it has nothing to do with testosterone or libido.
• Not all guys masturbate regularly. At least 5% pass on this daily activity.
• A veiny penis is totally normal; it is not a sign of infection, infertility, or impotence.
• Mountain Dew will not decrease sperm count. People used to think that yellow dye 5m and caffeine were responsible for a drop in sperm, but both theories have been debunked.
• Not all guys are circumcised and it’s becoming more popular to leave boys fully intact. In fact, 85% of men in the world are uncircumcised. In the US, every year the number of circumcisions drops, and is now only slightly more than 50%.
• The average erect penis is about 5” long. Any hard on bigger than that is considered big.
Erectile dysfunction is not a symptom of aging. Older people are more likely to get Erectile dysfunction because of other illnesses that they’ve acquired over time and because of medications that they may be taking. This is why young men can also experience ED and problems with impotence.
• Guys can fake an orgasm too. Unless a woman knows that a guy generally ejaculates bucket-loads, it’s possible for a guy to fake climax – almost as easy as it is for his partner.
